Nestled in the serene countryside of Ouse, Tasmania, this project's central aim was to reflect the town's peaceful charm. Collaborating with Central Highlands Council and Exteria, this initiative brings a blend of functionality, accessibility, and heritage aesthetics to the heart of Ouse. Positioned near the Ouse Town Hall, the project’s design and construction aimed to serve both the local community and the influx of visitors.
Challenges and Project Needs
The Central Highlands Council sought a modern amenities facility to address several pressing needs:
1. Aesthetic Integration: The design required seamless integration with the town’s character and existing buildings, especially the heritage-style Ouse Town Hall..
2. Enhanced Public Facilities: The area needed improved public amenities to support the local population and cater to tourists passing through the picturesque region.
3. Accessibility and Compliance: It was essential that the facility be fully accessible, adhering to AS1428 compliance standards to cater to individuals with varied needs.
4. Quick Install Time efficiency was crucial. The council required a quick turnaround to minimize disruption to the town while ensuring high-quality construction.
Our Solution
To meet these requirements, Modus Australia provided a Burton 5 Toilet Buildings paired with Exteria’s customised Heritage Shelter.
- Design and Visual Harmony: The building was designed with a heritage-style gable roof, finials, and corner braces, perfectly complementing the Ouse Town Hall. The Colorbond Classic Cream and Manor Red exterior color scheme further tied the aesthetic to the town’s character
- Heritage Shelter and Seating: Exteria contributed a heritage-style shelter equipped with two matching table settings, ensuring comfort and usability for families and groups.
- Quick Installation: Using Modus’ proprietary prefabricated panel system, the entire facility was installed within days, significantly reducing construction time compared to traditional methods.
An Outstanding Result
Since its completion, the Ouse project has garnered widespread appreciation. Residents and visitors alike have noted the building’s practicality and its harmony with the town’s charm. Local feedback highlights extended visits and greater enjoyment of community spaces, with tourists appreciating the accessibility and convenience. The council praised the efficiency of Modus’ installation process, emphasizing the project’s long-term durability and low maintenance.
