Whitsundays, QLD

The Whitsunday Regional Council is a large local government area across the touristic island group locality in the Whitsunday Region in Queensland. Among the breath taking beaches and islands is a vibrant community with a rich heritage and an abundance of beautiful public open spaces. This project included multiple toilet buildings across both touristic and residential areas to enhance the visitor experience and cater to the needs of the local population.

How we helped

The Whitsunday Regional Council had four separate locations they identified were in need of toilet amenities to enhance the amenity of the public open spaces. Modus worked with the City to create a cost-effective solution for convenient toilet buildings, helping them achieve their goal to create high quality, easy maintenance and vandal resistant amenities. The four locations included more touristic sites like Ceder Falls and more residential areas like Bowen Cemetry.

The building internals were customised to include mini-orb sheeting, a durable, corrugated steel material that is easy to clean, strong, and difficult to tag and scratch, helping prevent vandalism. Lastly, Deadlocks were retrofitted to ensure they are lockable and integrated into the council’s master keying system for enhanced security and convenience.
